Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) recognises learning gained through formal education, work, life experience and other non-formal or informal contexts.
For PHECC First Aid Response Renewal courses, learners must provide their instructor with a copy of their previous certificate. The certificate must be in date; PHECC First Aid Response certificates are valid for two years.
RPL does not apply to First Aid Essentials courses. Learners must attend the relevant one-day course every two years.
Qualifications
Irish qualifications sit within the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ), which helps learners, employers and education providers understand qualification levels and progression routes.
The European Qualifications Framework (EQF) helps compare qualifications across European countries, supporting learners who may study or work abroad.
Awarding Bodies
PHECC
PHECC is the independent statutory agency responsible for standards, education and training in pre-hospital emergency care.
